Global IPTV Benchmark Study: IPTV vs. WebTVIn our IPTV related study, which was kindly supported by Nokia Siemens Networks, we assess the most relevant IPTV rollouts around the globe as well as a number of the most interesting video streaming websites. In both cases, business models are analysed in terms of product offer, ease of use, the range of content available and the usability of the services. Furthermore, we provide an overview of the IPTV markets in Europe, North America and Asia considering IPTV marketing, up-selling opportunities for telcos around Triple and Quadruple Play and new forms of advertising. In co-operation with our international partners we describe the evolutions of rights windows and take a closer look at interesting web-based platforms contributing to the progress of Web 2.0 development, including Joost, Brightcove and others. With this study, we point out possibilities for content owners to make their video content accessible to a broader audience. The major challenge is to identify whether content owners should team up with IPTV operators or whether they should create their own streaming solutions. Both ways have their benefits and problems, and thus need to be thought through carefully before making a decision. The best practice benchmark analysis will support decision makers in taking the right direction and steps in this promising market. View the table of content. Date of release April, 30th 2007 |
